Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) Head Coach- Altadore Gymnastic Club

Primary Objective:

This position is located in Calgary, Alberta, and reports directly to the Athletic Director. The coaching position is responsible for coaching the assigned groups to provide a learning environment for all athletes and prepare them for competitive programs. The MAG Head Coach is responsible for organizing classes, athletes, competitions and providing clear parent communication. The role is accountable for working within the club’s vision, mission, policies, procedures, and goals set forth by the Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good leadership and communication skills
• Certified NCCP level 2 or above
• Good organizational skills
• Possess excellent knowledge of physiology, physical development and gymnastic safety
• Possess a valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• Compassionate, caring individual who enjoys working with children
• Police security clearance

T & T Head Coach Job Description and Responsibilities:

• Mainly coach in the MAG Program (approx. 20 hours)
• Supervise participants in a safe and effective way
• Keep accurate attendance records
• Maintain a professional appearance
• Participate in a coaching or technical role in demonstrations, internal club events and competitions as assigned.
• Active liaison with parents, keeping them informed of their child’s progress, competition schedules, group changes, concerns that arise, and parent meetings.
• Communicate and work as a team with administration to ensure a high level of customer service to membership is obtained.
• Communicate with all staff members both within MAG and in other programs within the club
• Attend all management and coach meetings, and club events as required.
• Set up all gym equipment before class begins and ensure all equipment is put away and the gym is tidy when shift is complete.
• Follow and enforce rotation model in the gym at all times.
• Actively recruit and develop athletes
• Develop the MAG Program
• Organize groups, class schedules, competition schedules as well as programming for each group, adhering to competition requirements.
• Competition registration, travel arrangements etc. as necessary, with the approval of the Athletic Director.
• Notify administration of athlete groupings, schedules, class changes, competition schedules, fees, and withdrawals.
• Control and supervise the MAG rules and safety.
• Evaluate overall program effectiveness and Athlete progress
• Accountable for ensuring all groups run at full capacity and the program is financially viable.
• Control (and respect) the AGC MAG Budget. Create and propose the next provisional MAG budget to the Director
• Responsible for resolution of program issues. Request assistance of Athletic Director if unable to resolve. Refer to the Board of Directors if the issue persists.
• Ensure all coach absences are recorded, approved and coverage is arranged.
• Participate in advertising and promoting AGC
• Follow employee handbook and stay up to date on changes
• Adheres to all policies set by AGC following directions and guidelines as outlined by the facility and the management.
• Meet all determined deadlines.
• Adhere to the privacy of information act.
• Complete all accident reports and ensure they are signed by supervisor
• Follows Board Approved Policies and Procedures, as well as policies set forth by AGF and GCG.
• Support and encourage teamwork within the gym. Foster a positive working environment
• Provide leadership to gym staff in program planning and problem solving situations
• Other duties that may be assigned by the Board and Athletic Director

WAG COMPETITIVE/DEVELOPMENTAL COACH

Altadore Gymnastic Club

Part-time coaching opportunity to work primarily with our JO Level 5-8 WAG athletes, with a potential for additional hours working within our Recreational Program. Altadore Gymnastic Club is looking for an energetic WAG coach with at least 2 years of experience to work within a professional environment to mentor our athletes to develop their skills.  You will work as part of an excellent coaching staff and we pride ourselves on our WAG teamwork environment.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 or level 3 NCCP certification in Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)
  • Level 1 Trampoline Required, Level 2 Trampoline would be an asset
  • Respect in Sport Certificate
  • Completion of Making Ethical Decision: Competition Introduction Online Course
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Dance and Choreography Experience would be a definite asset, but is not required
  • Spotting Experience and an eye for detail
  • Potential to travel to competitions

 Recreational Coach

 Altadore Gymnastics club is seeking experienced recreational coaches. We offer a wide variety of recreational programs for kids aged 6 months to adult. We use the Cangym program which is designed to promote FUN, FITNESS and FUNDAMENTALS.

Qualifications:

– Minimum Level 1 Coaching Certified

– Good leadership and communication skills

– Possess knowledge of physiology, physical development and gymnastic safety

– Familiar or willing to familiarize with the adopted programs set out by the AGC club or the Alberta Gymnastics Federation or Gymnastics Canada
