Who is Ed Vincent?

AGC is proud to be the Home of lifetime Coach and member Ed Vincent.EDVINCENT2.Ed-Vincent.
For almost 50 years Ed has been contributing his talents to our facility and has touched and inspired many of us today! Ed is the founder of the Men’s Competitive Program at Altadore.
The AGC Men’s Program, bench-marked Canadian Gymnastics History, as 2004 Olympic Champion Kyle Shewfelt, flipped his way into our hearts. Ed trains multiple times a week, and performs at our Home Show.
Ed is currently 81 years old and still trains twice a week! He continues to be an inspiration to all our athletes and Coaches.

2020 will be our 51st Annual Invitational hosted by AGC. The first ‘Altadore Invitational” was held in 1969. In 2007, it was renamed to the “Ed Vincent Invitational” (held March 2-4, 2007),  to commemorate Altadore Gymnastic Club’s 40th Anniversary.
The Altadore Gymnastic Club started modestly in 1967 as an after school activity in the Altadore Elementary School. Steady increases in registrations created the need for larger facilities. In 1977 the club moved to a converted warehouse and became the second club in Canada to have an in-ground pit and one of the first to have full-time salaried professional coaches. This move allowed Altadore to offer recreational gymnastics to thousands of Calgary children and pushed the club into a premier competitive position in Alberta and Canada. In July of 2017 we moved to an even bigger location to help us continue to grow into our next 50 years.

We invite you to come and take part in this season’s Ed Vincent Invitational, where we will celebrate our current gymnasts! Event Coordinator:
